And then it rained.

I’ve not been on here much as some may have noticed. We have been busy on projects unrelated to me and so my blog has been left to one side for a while. How rude, but that’s the price I must pay for having staff and assistants I suppose.

Anyway, as a catch up, it rained soon after Christmas and hasn’t really stopped since. Throughout January the UK was having its wettest January on record. This spilled over (literally) into February. Then on Saturday last week there was a strange orange warm ball that appeared in the sky for most of the day and we wondered if this was the break in the weather we needed, to allow us all too dry out a little. Sunday duly responded with rain, drizzle and then some more rain just for good measure.

A bright orange glow over the soggy wildlife sanctuary

And then today Lenny and I found ourselves being walked briskly across the field to the front of the house. We vaguely remembered this as a precursor to a trip in the car and, we were right. Duly turned around after five minutes or so we were lifted into our travel crates for the short trip to Bromfield. Boot opened and dogs released we were on our merry way toward Ludlow, albeit with the proviso that the staff were not going to walk us past the farm with the piglets and sows as we (read I) have a tendency to snack on the delicacies they sometimes leave. We wandered along another lane to the wonderfully named Lady Halton. Once back in the car both Lenny and I were snoozing before we could reach home.

Beyond this, I have been to the vet on four occasions since Christmas what with my ears still playing me up. Potions, lotions and now a spray have been administered so as to try and resolve my irritated ears. We are all hoping it works as we are all bored with me being ensconced in the Cone of Shame for so long. According to my assistants, I have been using the Cone since sometime around October 2022 on and off. Still at least it keeps my ears warm when I’m sleepy.

  1. We had an ice storm last month that shut everything down for over a week. It’s just now starting to melt, which has left Daisy and her friends confused. They had started to accept the world as a cold, white, slippery place and suddenly it’s not?
Daisy did finally accept wearing jackets outside of the house, as it was usually -12 celsius or so during our morning walks on the ice.

  2. Aw, the rain, I can only imagine the accompanying mud. Two handsome beagles wet and muddy! Hope the cone of shame will soon be ‘retired’. šŸ™‚šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ā£ļø
